outh of Substance, Impacting Through Action,  an impactful theme for an insightful retreat. In its 3rd year, the Nolan Hue Foundation once again strives to promote professional development of youth in Antigua and Barbuda. This year it goes even further with its partnership with ACT, the island’s most significant technology provider. 25 future leaders aged 18 – 25, experienced a dynamic weekend at the Jolly Beach Resort from July 20th – 22nd, all with the focus of growth and progress.

The Nolan Hue Youth Empowerment Retreat (NH YER) is only another example of ACT’s continuous mandate to make a positive impact in the community. As Business Development Manager, Andrew Doumith explained, initiatives such as these are a transformational learning experience that ties into the core values of the company. Further, it is vital to balance profit-making activities creatively and strategically through activities that benefit the community.

“Whether it is through technology, charitable donations, sponsorships or volunteering for a good cause, we pride ourselves on giving back to the community”.

The future that we all want is a brighter and more socially responsible one, where youth are civically minded. ACT contributed not only with monetary and the sponsorship of a tablet but in hosting one of the retreats. “Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset,” the workshop that Doumith conducted was one of the many that both participants and hosts found rewarding and educational. Participant Lashorn Bender was not only grateful for the experience but encouraged other youth to embark upon it as well. Other programs such as Lifestyle Management, Interpersonal Skills, and Problem Solving, geared not only to the professional development of youth but their evolution as well.

Committed to the advancement of personal development ACT selected an Internet Help Desk Technician, D’Ondre Thomas to be a part of the experience. He stated that not only was he honored to be given the opportunity but found it inspiring to engage with young professionals eager to help others in their journey. Investing in the progress and creating a vibrant and self-motivated culture is at the core of ACT’s initiative.

Corporate sponsorship also plays a significant role in efforts such as this. They assist to not only fund the operational expenses but more importantly give the youth the opportunities that they so richly deserve. Regis G. Burton QYL, Esq. Co-Founder & CEO of the Nolan Hue Foundation adds –

“This corporate support ultimately develops the next generation of young people and boosts the
level of professionals experienced in Antigua and Barbuda.”

Moreover, not only Antigua and Barbuda, the goal of the foundation is to foster regional and international impact. This year the first regional delegate from St. Kitts and Nevis, Tawnna Collins joined the NH YER. Privileged that she was chosen to attend the retreat Collins looks forward to applying skills learned from the many sessions and connecting with other civic-minded youth leaders.

ACT looks towards the future and its continued partnership with the Nolan Hue Foundation. The company strives to highlight initiatives such as this, as it advances the community into the future.
